Working In All Kinds Of Weather

In All Kinds Of Weather

How weather conditions affect commercial painting
While the climate surrounding the commercial and industrial painting process can be fairly well controlled for interior projects, painting outside is another matter. Unfortunately, there is no thermostat for the weather—and no matter what climate you’re in, “perfect days” for painting are few and far between.
One important responsibility for commercial painting contractors is to pay attention to the weather forecasts, and arrive at the job site ready to tackle the various challenges that come with changing environmental conditions.
Outdoor painting in cold weather
While New York state does have cold & warm weather, commercial painting contractors still have to deal with chilly winter temperatures, and in some areas, downright cold conditions. Low temperatures affect the painting process by delaying the drying process—which can cause problems if a contractor tries to apply additional coats when the layer beneath hasn’t fully dried.
Moisture is another cold-weather enemy to exterior commercial painting. During the winter months, moisture accumulates in the form of either dew or frost, depending on the temperature, and can interfere with the painting process if it’s not addressed.
Hot and dry conditions
Heat and low moisture bring a different set of struggles for exterior commercial painting. High temperatures can cause the solvent in paint to evaporate too quickly, which can lead to serious imperfections in the application, such as wrinkling or blistering. In hot weather, painting crews must also take additional safety precautions at the job site to avoid illness and injury.
The effects of moisture and humidity
Wet conditions on a commercial exterior painting job site can lead to a number of difficulties. High humidity affects the drying and curing process by slowing down evaporation, which can cause the paint to sag and drip excessively. The extended drying time can also allow dirt and particulate matter to settle into the tacky paint, which can ruin the appearance of the finished project.
A skilled commercial painting contractor should be aware of the effects the weather has on exterior painting projects, and be prepared to address these adverse conditions to ensure timely completion and a great-looking paint job when the project is finished—despite the weather that surrounds them.

Interior & Exterior Painting

Interior & Exterior Painting

Rely on the experts in industrial painting

When it comes to your industrial facility, appearances matter. A clean, fresh-looking building serves to bolster employee satisfaction and increase productivity. The look of your facility is also critical in determining your clients' first impressions. To achieve a professional appearance, you need professional painting contractors.
At JW Painting, we know that industrial painting goes beyond the superficial. Our services are designed to not only increase the cosmetic appeal of your facility, but also to protect and enhance your investment.

How can interior and exterior painting help you?

A poor or worn-out paint job leaves your facility looking dull, drab, and maybe even dirty. Investing in a fresh coating will give your building a facelift and breathe new life into your facility. However, most industrial coatings accomplish more than just a pretty picture.
Interior coatings can protect your walls, flooring, machinery, and steel structural components from damage due to the heavy wear and tear that occurs daily in industrial settings. Floor coatings protect your substrate from traffic and chemical spills, while structural coatings inhibit rust and corrosion in steel components. Machinery and equipment painting enhance safety and extend the life of your machines.

The professionals at JW Painting have worked exclusively with commercial and industrial clients for nearly 15 years. Our extensive hands-on experience and product knowledge make us uniquely positioned to tackle the many challenges involved in painting industrial facilities.
When it comes to your industrial facility, you can't afford to work with a painting contractor who will cause unnecessary delays, take more time than anticipated, or go over your budget. At  JW Painting, we know the industry inside and out, and we're dedicated to providing exceptional quality workmanship that exceeds your expectations.

What can we do for you?

Industrial painting requires extensive planning, strict adherence to industry specifications, and meticulous attention to detail. We'll work with you to design an optimal painting solution for your facility that prevents interruptions in your production schedule and doesn't break your budget.
While painting is generally considered for aesthetic purposes, industrial facilities require more than just a pretty face. Harsh environmental conditions and daily wear and tear can damage your building and equipment, making it necessary for industrial coatings to do double duty—they must look great while also providing protection for your big investments.
Many industrial facilities require highly specialized coatings for certain areas. We have the proper training, equipment, and certifications to work on regulated facilities, and the experience to ensure that your project meets all industry standards.

Commercial Painting Delivery Systems

The commercial painting product market has literally hundreds of applicators, paints, sprays, and types of coatings. If you are in charge of a facility, knowing a little bit about the types of products contractors use can help you make better maintenance decisions about your commercial building.
Commercial Painting Delivery Systems
Airless Sprayers
Airless spray systems offer versatile and modular functioning. Airless systems can be used to apply lacquers, elastomerics, stains, and other coatings, and may be outfitted for either indoor or outdoor use. These sprayers are available in gas or electric powered models. The gas powered models are powerful, but are more suited to outdoor projects. Inside jobs are best handled with the quieter electric airless sprayer.
High Volume Low Pressure (HVLP)
HVLP systems use a large volume of air reduced to a very low air pressure to turn a liquid paint into a spray. This commercial painting delivery system is often used to coat detailed woodwork and for ceilings. Spray painting works by either combining the paint with air, or convert the paint to tiny droplets and accelerate these out a nozzle.
Standard Commercial Painting Paints
Standard commercial paints, such as the various paints, primers and stains produced by companies like Benjamin Moore and Cabot, are used for general purpose coverings. Commercial painting products have a wide range of properties, so you should discuss your needs and immediate requirements with a knowledgeable commercial painting contractor company.
Specialty Commercial Painting Paints
Specialty commercial paints offer radically different coating properties for a demanding commercial painting environment. Here are a few examples of products that are designed for heavy-duty commercial and industrial applications:
Covercrete, a specialized concrete coating
Griggs Paint, unique aerospace ready coatings
Polymerland, special engineered resins for use with polymers
Armorpoxy, a tough floor coating system
Final Words
If you have a commercial project coming up soon, please contact a professional painting company. A skilled and experienced commercial painting contractor will be able to suggest the various products and coating techniques that are right for your building project.
